Knitting Olympics and Team New York!!!!
It's official, I've joined Team New York! Hopefully I won't let them down. I finally got my knitting library up on the site which got me thinking about all my books, especially the one's that haven't been looked at much. So, I sat on the couch and started reading, yes I said reading, Knitting in the Old Way. What an awesome book. Really never knew I had so much material on topics like Aran and Fair Isle, just the type of knitting I've been wanting to sink my little needles into. I'd have to say the older books in my collection are the one's I like best. You definitely can't beat anything by Elizabeth Zimmermann, Gladys Thompson, Mary Thomas, Beth Brown-Reinsel or Mary Walker Phillips. I need to invest in some Meg Swansen books to like Sweaters from Camp, Knitting and Handknitting. Schoolhouse Press has a wonderful selection of older books that are hard to find. In fact, they have a great selection in wool and buttons. I don't know if anyone has ever noticed but there is this little pic of Elizabeth in the back of The Opinionated Knitter on the very last page in the bottom right hand corner. I love that pic of her. What a beautiful woman. It would have been an honor to have had a knitting lesson from her! Dust off those old books and give them a read. Keep on Knitting!

Yarn Harlot's Knitting Olympics 2006
I have joined Yarn Harlot's Knitting Olympics 2006. This is my first knitting olympics. I'm going to do the "Crusoe" sock pattern on Knitty by Marilyn A. Roberts. I also got Koigu but #621 instead of #106. The pattern looks easy enough so I really don't forsee any problems. Many knitters have already joined so there should be alot needles clicking all over the country. Doesn't it just figure I can only find 3 of 5 #1 dpn, so I guess I need to go buy another set which is okay because I've been wanting to get #1 12in. circulars anyway. Gee, guess I have to go to the yarn shop. I'm 2 in. away from starting the yoke on hubby's sweater (I already have the sleeves done) so I should have it done in no time now. Hopefully I can get the camera guy working on pics for me. Then I can get yarn ordered for my fair isle. Thanks to Kate at knit lit for checking out my blog. Encouragement always helps. Have a great day everybody. Keep on Knitting!

Way to go Steelers!!!
The Steelers pulled it off! The hubby won $25 for the 3rd quarter score. I won a big zippo. Oh, well. I'm just glad the Steelers won. So, I've picked out 4 patterns to do in The Celtic Collection: Armagh, Kilronan, Tara and Cromarty. I can do these pretty inexpensively if I use Knitpicks yarn but it would be nice to do one of the patterns in a tweed which they don't have so I'll have to find a nice tweedy yarn. Sweetgeorgia really has me going with her fair isle she's doing so I'm thinking of buying Meg Swansen's "Sweaters from Camp" which has been on my mind for a long time now anyway, possibly her Fair Isle Vest video (I've watched it and it's great). I think I've been through the Schoolhouse Press catalog 40 times since getting it. So many things, so little $. Re-subscibed to Interweave Knits, can't wait for the next issue. Need to get some Peace Fleece for some more socks. Thank God for the Einstein this winter, it has really kept me nice & warm. Another one in a different color would be nice. Well, better get to my domestic chores. Keep knitting!

Tomorrow is a very exciting day!!
As you all know, tomorrow is the big day! The picks are in, the bets are made, but who will win is nothing more than a toss up! Such a manly day, basically, but there are some of us girls who will be cheering on our alternate teams, while faithfully knitting away. Not to mention we will be watching all the new commericals and of course Mick and the Stones at half time. We will be having a party at our fire department, we went and did our shopping at BJ's last night courtesy of the fire dept. of course. I just hope everyone stays safe tomorrow and we don't get any calls. I'm sure the guys hope the same thing. We will be bringing swedish meatballs and I think I might whip up a little guacamole. Love it!! So who will it be: the Steelers or the Seahawks? I hope the Steelers! I guess we'll find out tomorrow!! As you can see my sweet hubby helped me to at least get some of my favs up on the side bar. I'm kinda gettin the hang of this stuff and having alota fun. Ya know those little jars they sell in cute little gift shops that say "girls night out stash" well I want to find one that says "yarn stash". I really need to buy some more yarn though I'm sure hubby would beg to differ with me on that one. But seriously I really do. There are so many things I want to knit and each project requires yarn, ssssoooo I need mmoorree yarn!! I know what I should really do is quit smoking and save all the money I would use to buy cigs and put it in that cute little jar and problem solved. Yeah right, we'll see! Not much goin on other than still working on the sweater. Really need to get that finished. It's so cold today, I can't stand it. I really need to move south. Well girls, catch up with ya on Monday. Have a terrific weekend and root for the Steelers (or not)! Later

A New Knitting Blog Is Born!
Dear fellow knitters, I have finally joined the world of blogging though I'm not to sure I know what I'm doing but I'm going to give it my best shot. I'm really excited as I've been reading all of your blogs for so long and am truly inspired by so many of you. I have so many projects that I want to do that I've seen on your blogs. I'm interested in doing fair isle and an aran sweater. I started knitting a little over 2 years ago (my best friend Grace taught me) and I haven't quit since. I think I must have knitted 50 scarves as practice then my first project was Sally Melville's "Einstein Coat". I used Lopi's dark chocolate heather and it turned out beautiful. As soon as my DH (does that stand for darling husband, I sure hope so) shows me how to download pics from the camera I will have pics to show you. I've also knitted socks. I am currently knitting a sweater for my hubby and a purse for myself. This is my first post so I have lots of work to do on the blog so I will get back to you as soon as I can. I'm so excited to be apart of the blogging world! Hope to hear from many of you. Bye for now!
